  • Barry George

    Head Chef
Barry is our Head Chef, before joining us at Cantina he was already a successful head chef and restauranteur. He has cooked privately for celebrities, food critics, magazine editors and managed a 200 cover pop up backstage VIP restaurant at Glastonbury . He is also very proud to have contributed to and helped produce two successful cook books in recent years. He is passionate about food, Liverpool Football Club and Jenn. Last summer just 2 weeks after we opened Cantina he completed his first Ironman, he has plans to do more in the future and will be off to Germany in April to do the Frieburg Marathon. He appeared on 8 episodes of the Micky Mouse Club with Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilara and Britney Spears in the in the early 1990s.
  • Kate Allen

    General Manager
Kate is our General Manager, she does a bit of everything. She meets and greets the customers, fixes broken toilets, hires the staff, makes a mean latte and anything else that needs doing. She became a media darling in December when we hire the pensioner Joe Bartley and has appeared on the TV all over the world. Before Cantina she used to run her own outside catering business, she still misses her time in the kitchen but occasionally Barry lets her in to help him out. Kate was the English Schools shot put champion in 1989 and can occasionally be seen practicing in Youngs Park with left over roast potatoes.
  • Charlie Harris

    Master Of Awesomeness
Charlie organises our events, keeps our paperwork in house and helps out front of house. Her favourite day to work is Sunday because it’s lovely and busy with a great atmosphere and fantastic music. Charlie is mum to Ollie, Jake and Rosie, occasionally you’ll see Ollie clearing tables at Cantina, we are starting his training early. She rows for Paignton Rowing club and spends weekends in the summer travelling to regattas. Charlie also is a member of Torbay triathlon club and tries to squeeze in as much triathlon training as she has entered Nottigham sprint triathlon in May. In October 2016 she had her first book of poetry published by Picador.
  • Queenie Martin

    Admin
Queenie does most of our admin, she keeps control of the purse strings although she’s quite good at spending too. She says the best bit of the job is organising charity events, in the past 6 months we had plenty of those, Dip and Dine for the RSPB, Rock the bay for MNDA, other favourite job is booking the bands for Sunday Lunchtimes, she enjoys this so much that she’s decided we’re going to have music on Thursday nights too from April. Queenie also works at Cantina occasionally usually when we have an event on or on a Sunday, she can’t do any more than this because she has a full time job working as an accountant for The Mare and Foal Sanctuary in Newton Abbot. She is Kates Partner, Jenns sister and Charlies Mum. In 1988 she was the runner up in the Miss Great Britain Contest.
  • Jenny George

    Chutney Maker
Jenn is our Chutney, jam and marmalade maker, she recently spent a Sunday making 40lrs of marmalade. She is married to Barry and is a very good chef in her own right, some think she’s better than Barry!! She helps out front of house during weekends, evening and holiday and is, we think, the best cocktail maker in Devon, her breakfast martini is a beverage sensation. The rest of the time she’s at Plymouth University studying Dietetics. She is another of the founders of The Real Food Project Torbay. Jenn was the winner of the 2014 National Spelling Bee.
